Black Pearl was established on 10th October 2003, according to how the servant of God Pastor Ock Soo Park saw Africa to be. Africa was regarded as a “Dark Continent” but through the promise of God which Pastor Park received in Psalms 2:8, it has become a precious pearl that shines the gospel to every land in Africa. After listening to this words from the servant of God, five brothers were selected as a gospel acapela group called “BLACK PEARL”, that sings praises to glorify God Almighty. The Black Pearl have three groups (A, B, C ) as at now.



Group A is known as the “Original Black Pearl”. In May 2004, they were sent out to our local churches of Ghana. With two sticks, they sing for the joy of salvation and grace that they receive from church and servant of God. After they were sent out, the B group was established and were given a special name ‘AGI BLACK PEARL’ (meaning baby black pearl). With the two sticks and drum the Black Pearl sings to glorify God during normal service as well as Bible seminars and IYF camps.



In July 2005, by the grace of God through the church we attended IYF world camp in Korea. We were given grace to perform before 2500 IYF participants. Although we sang Twi songs but God united our hearts and this made us joyful and thankful. In July 2007, some members of the B group received grace to attend IYF world camp in Korea and also to stay therefore some years; for this reason the C group of Black Pearl was set up.

As we live in the gospel, God has made us happy and able people that can do everything. We don’t have many skills and knowledge in the concept of music but church and servant of God accept and establish us according to the promise of God in the Bible. The promise of God that says Africa is no longer dark continent but a ‘Black Pearl’ has to be able acapela group in the church. As to the promise, we receive from our brethren and servant of God and church. Some times during singing people dance and give us a lot of money and importantly we receive guidance and wisdom from the servant of God as to what we have to do.

It’s through this guidance that Black Pearl is able to organize musical concerts, and festivals, Chinese cultural fairs, and many more. Through the Black Pearl songs, Africans in particular, are able to realize they are no longer the ‘dark continent ‘. They used to be but rather a true PEARL that gives the riches of the Lord to the heart of men through the gospel.
